It’s nice. The new loading screen looks cool, the login screen is great. The Yaru theme looks really nice and the UI is a significant improvement over 18.04, something I didn’t think would be possible. The default wallpaper is butt ugly, but apart from that I have absolutely no problems with it. It’s eye candy enough that I don’t really need to customize a lot for me to get started with it right away.

I’m so grateful for finally being able to use a *nix again. I would have continued using Windows if 10 wasn’t such a piece of shit and WSL was good for anything non-trivial. I was really looking into going towards .NET Core + WPF development. No big deal, I guess.

In the M$ community the solution to any performance issues seems to be just “buy a better PC lol”. This attitude probably stretches over to the devs. An ex-M$FTer on Reddit also said something to this effect.

“When I worked at MSFT back in the 1990s I thought there was evidence of a different reason for poor performance:

MSFT developers got new machines like clockwork.

They had no reason to focus on performance. Everything ran fast on their new hardware. OSS OTOH is developed by volunteers on older and scavenged gear and performance improvements are rewarded.”

These fucks just don’t seem to understand that sometimes people cannot afford to buy new hardware. If you have an older or less powerful PC, you can just get fucked.

I'm stupid and I try to learn new stuff. I also rant about things I don't like.
